Ingredients
1 tablespoon butter
4 slices good-quality bread (white is always good)
1/4 cup of Talbot Forest Havarti Cheese, grated*
Salt and pepper to taste
Method
Instructions:
First, generously smear butter on the outsides of the bread.
Divide the cheese between 2 slices of bread.
Season with a bit of salt and pepper to taste.
Cover with the second slice of bread.
Heat a frying pan or griddle to hot (but not smoking, you’ll burn the bread). Using a flat spatula, lay your sandwiches into the pan (they should sizzle a little as they hit the pan—if not, the pan isn’t hot enough). Gently squish the sandwich with the spatula (don’t worry if you get a little cheese leakage, this gives you the crispy bits). Cook for a few minutes on one side pressing from time to time, then flip it over and repeat on the other side until the cheese is all melted and the bread is golden brown.
Cut diagonally and serve piping hot with a side of gherkin or chutney.
